Brand Designs - Top tips for designing a winning brand
When it comes to designing your brand, you could do a lot worse than follow some of the biggest brands in the world. With many years and millions of pounds poured into branding research, the big brands usually know what works.
1. Get a memorable logo
While logos are not the brand, they do encompass all the things your brand is about. All of the qualities of your brand should be wrapped in the shiny wrapper that is your logo. It should communicate these qualities successfully to your target market and be the identifier for your brand – the thing that makes you recognisable amongst all of the other voices vying for consumer attention.
2. Strive for quality
There aren’t many brands that thrive on low quality products or services and survive. With the universal ability to rate or slate brands thanks to the internet, falling short on quality is one of the fastest ways to kill your brand. Think of Bosch v. Beko. Which one would you rather buy and why?
3. Choose your market position
Confusion over where you position your brand may also confuse your target market. Be clear from the start when designing your brand where in the market you position your goods or services. Price, advertising, and quality should always reflect your chosen position if you are to give your brand a solid identity and communicate effectively with your customers.
4. Marketing
You can build the best brand with the coolest logo in the world but if no one ever sees it or knows it exists it will never be successful. Building a successful brand goes hand-in-hand with marketing. Marketing helps win brand recognition and sales. Marketing is the channel for putting your brand and your business in front of your target market and distinguishing what you offer from your competitors.
Branding is multi-faceted and creating a strong brand is about more than thinking up a quirky name and a great picture. Think of your brand as everything you do, say and believe in plus what your customers think and say about you combined with the above and you will be on track to make a success of your brand design.
