The Printed Bag Shop are specialists in the manufacture of bespoke promotional products. Custom bag printing may seem like a simple process, yet it takes years of experience and an eye for detail to ensure every bag is printed to the highest quality.
To ensure we uphold our commitment to reducing the impact of our products on the environment, we only use water-based inks as opposed to the harmful solvent-based inks used in the past.
There are two main techniques used in the bag printing process:
Spot colours: This is used for designs with a simple colour scheme where all colours are separately identifiable. This is commonly used for company logos, or any designs with block colours. The basic, most cost effective way of printing.
Process printing: Complex designs such as photographic images or those with complex shading are CMYK process printed. CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, microscopic dots of these colours are layered together to form the right shades, making sharp images possible with subtle changes. This is an expensive process but will provide an excellent final print.
Things to consider when submitting artwork for bag printing:
Light colours do not print well on dark films. The best way to achieve this is to flood the bag with 100% ink and leave the logo reversed out in the film colour. Avoid close registration between colours. If there is no clear distinction between lines there may be an overlap which would result in a slight colour variation. A 5mm gap between colours is the clearest way to print. Avoid extending prints over a bag’s gusset.
This can result in a poor quality print as the film can not be flattened out during the printing process. Simple, bold designs have the most impact on potential customers as they can be seen from a distance or close up. This ensures your company message is passed onto the largest potential customer base.
