How To Re-Use & Recycle Branded Tissue Paper

Did you know that the majority of tissue paper is already made from shortened fibres? In many cases this means it cannot be recycled again. For eco conscious brands, recycled tissue paper is a fantastic printed packaging material because these ideas mean your consumers can reuse the paper they receive with their purchase. Keep reading for more:

Re-wrap your gifts!

In the UK, we throw away approximately 83 square km of wrapping paper every single year. Thick grift wrapping paper is rich with ink and fibres that are not recyclable. We waste so much just by buying it.

Wherever possible, collect the branded tissue paper you receive throughout the year. As it’s so thin, it’s easier to store and keep neat. When it comes around to Christmas or for a birthday, you can use the tissue paper to wrap up a gift. If the material has repeated logos or you are not quite happy with the aesthetic of your recycled tissue paper, you can always buy a recycled gift bag or printed paper bag and rip or scrunch the tissue paper to hide the gift.

Alternatively, if you have the time (and the inclination) you can always decorate the material to create recycled tissue paper gift wrap. The material is often too thin and fragile for heavy decoration, but biodegradable roll-on glitter will create some fantastically festive designs!

Create A Recycled Garland!

Garlands

Garlands can be used for so many occasions; they’re a fantastic way to keep the cost of your celebrations down and use recycled tissue paper. See the image above for inspiration! Even better, you don’t have to be the creative type to achieve something fantastic; simply flatten out the tissue paper and fold it in half lengthways and then width ways.

Cut towards the grove in approximately 1.5-2cm strips, leaving a couple of centimetres at the folded edge.

Unfold the paper and lay out all the strips, trying to keep all the strips untangled and intact. Once it’s all laid flat, start to roll from one edge and then twist in the middle.

Keep twisting until you can create a loop and thread the garland string through the loop. You can tie a knot or use some glue to keep it in place and create your low-budget decoration out of recycled tissue paper.

Papier Mache

Papier Mache - piñata

Save up all your tissue paper and get the craft kit out. Recycled tissue paper is the perfect material to use for papier mache creations without using paint! Papier mache is a perfect activity to get the kids involved and get messy – you can make anything from kid’s costumes for school productions to cool, arty designs for ornaments and homemade gifts!

If you really want to take on a project, you can make a pinata from papier mache and used recycled tissue paper in strips, tassels or shapes to decorate your animal of choice! This is a fantastic activity for kids to make and then enjoy breaking into for budget birthday parties!

There are so many creations to be made and ways to use recycled tissue paper. You can just save it up throughout the year for a rainy day.
